Begin Again Goods is an extension of Evans' studio practice, born from a curiosity about the process of copper electroforming—a technique in which organic and found materials are transformed through a slow, alchemical layering of copper. What began as a pedagogical experiment in my sculpture classroom soon evolved into a parallel practice: a way of thinking through materials at a more intimate, wearable scale.

Electroforming is at once delicate and unruly. A single fern frond, shell, or stone becomes encased in copper over hours or days, each layer carrying with it the quirks and mysteries of chemistry. The process is unpredictable, often unruly, and always revelatory. This kind of transformation resonates deeply with the larger currents of my work as a sculptor: matter shifting from one state to another, bodies and objects moving through cycles of decay and renewal.

The jewelry collected here carries these alchemical associations forward. Each piece is a small study in transmutation—a sculptural fragment made to be worn close to the body. In their accessibility and scale, these works offer another point of entry into my practice, a way for collectors to hold and inhabit a piece of the studio’s ongoing inquiry.
